Cuisine type: Cafe
There are actually several of these chain health-food restaurants located along the Costera. They are perfect for those tiring of seafood and Mexican cuisine and desiring something lighter and healthier. They serve salads, sandwiches on fresh-baked wheat bread, fruit with yogurt, and a great selection of smoothies. During high season, most locations are open 24 hours.
Carlos 'n' Charlie's
Costera Miguel Aleman 112
+52 74 84-12-85
Credit cards accepted: American Express, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Moderate
Cuisine type: Mexican, American
This has been one of Acapulco's busiest restaurants for years. As with all the Anderson establishments, an atmosphere of carefree fun and silliness is promoted. There's live music and lots of drinking. It is very popular with the young crowd. The food is primarily Mexican with American specialties like chili and barbecued ribs.
Casanova
Carretera Escenica
+52 74 84-68-19
Credit cards accepted: American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Expensive
Cuisine type: Italian
The setting of this restaurant is one of the most dramatic in Acapulco--it seems as if it is carved into a cliffside overlooking the bay. The menu is classic Italian, with various antipasti, homemade pastas, and excellent scampi and veal dishes. Reservations are recommended.
El Galeon

Credit cards accepted: None
Price range: Inexpensive
Cuisine type: Mexican, Seafood
At this restaurant, walk through fold-away double doors and head into the very colorful lounge with an oval bar that features a model galeon in the center stocked with liquor bottles. The crowd is predominantly local but there are a few travelers, usually Europeans, who slip in for the atmosphere.
La Petite Belgique
Plaza Marbella
+52 74 84-77-25
Credit cards accepted: American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Expensive
Cuisine type: Belgian, French
Definitely make a point of treating yourself to this one. The wife and husband team (she runs the kitchen; he is the host) serve your standard Belgian-style mussels and fries, but also prepare scrumptious homemade goose pate, salmon terrine, strudel, and French-style main dishes such as stuffed boneless duck.
Los Rancheros
Carretera Escenica
+52 74 84-19-08
Credit cards accepted: American Express, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Inexpensive
Cuisine type: Mexican
For good, traditional Mexican specialties, such as fillete tampiquena and mole, served in a nice atmosphere, a good part of town, and at a fraction of the price of neighboring restaurants, Los Rancheros is the place. There is an elegant view of the water from the dining room, but the decor is rather folk-style and dress is casual.
Madeiras
Carretera Escenica 33
+52 74 84-43-78
Credit cards accepted: American Express, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Expensive
Cuisine type: Continental, Mexican
Located east of town by the Las Brisas hotel, one of this restaurant's best features is the incredible views of Acapulco. But the food is great too, and it is this combination that has made it an Acapulco favorite for years. Dinner is a four-course prix-fixe menu, which usually includes a chilled soup, crepes, choice of meat or fish, and desert. Reservations are required.
Mariscos Pipo
3 Almirante Breton
+52 74 82-22-37
Credit cards accepted: American Express, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Inexpensive
Cuisine type: Seafood
This is a local favorite for good, fresh, inexpensive seafood. The menu is quite extensive, offering almost everything that lives in the sea. There's ceviche and various grilled fillets, lobster, octopus, and shark. There is also a second location on the Costera at Canada (+52 74-84-01-65).
Restaurant Miramar
Plaza Vista, Carretera Escenica
+52 74 84-78-74
Credit cards accepted: American Express, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Very Expensive
Cuisine type: Continental, Mexican
The Miramar is one of the most elegant, formal, and expensive restaurants in town. The menu mainly features European specialties, such as coq au vin and duck a l'orange, but they also create inventive Mexican dishes. There is discreetly attentive service and reservations are required.
Spicey
Carretera Escenica
+52 74 81-13-80
Credit cards accepted: American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa
Price range: Very Expensive
Cuisine type: Fusion
In the two years since its opening, Spicey has continued to be one of upscale Acapulco's favorite restaurants--and also its trendiest. The food is boldly unique, for example coconut-battered shrimp with an orange marmalade mustard sauce and chile rellenos in mango chutney. Attire is dressy, yet casual. There's an indoor dining room and a rooftop terrace with sensational views of the bay and city lights. Reservations are necessary.
